Guts, Grit, and Slicks: Trice's Rollercoaster Weekend at Croft

This past weekend at Croft delivered everything you could expect from a race weekend—excitement, challenges, and lessons learned. The stunning weather was briefly interrupted by a rain shower right before the first race, forcing some tough decisions. Toby and the Clean Racing team took a bold gamble, opting for slicks in fully wet conditions while starting from P7. The first few laps were nothing short of a white-knuckle ride, with the 500bhp Porsche Cayman GT4 feeling more like it was on ice. Toby slipped to the back of the field as he fought to keep the car on track, but as the circuit dried out, his decision paid off. The dry tyres came to life, and Toby began carving through the field, eventually finishing P12 and clocking the fastest lap in his class. A few more laps, and the lead pack would have been in his sights.

Qualifying, however, proved to be the most frustrating session of the weekend. A strong start was overshadowed by slower traffic during his final flying lap, leaving Toby with P7 despite the car showing P2 pace in the data. This qualifying result set the tone for the weekend, forcing a strategy of gradual progress through each race.

Race two was less eventful, with the field spreading out early on, limiting opportunities for overtakes. Still, Toby secured a P7 finish, holding his ground despite the lack of on-track battles.

The final race brought more drama. A brilliant start saw Toby leap up the order at turn one, but a slight clip of another car led to a puncture, which eventually blew out at Tower Corner at over 100 mph. A careful drive back to the pits for a tyre change ended any hopes of a strong finish, and Toby crossed the line in P20.

Reflecting on the weekend, Toby expressed frustration but also found motivation in the positives. "I had the pace to be right at the sharp end, but qualifying set us up badly. However, my car control in the wet was incredible, and the data shows we have everything we need for future rounds."

Looking ahead, Toby is more determined than ever as he prepares for the next round at Donington Park on the 24th and 25th of August. With the support of Testhim, LogixX Pharma, and the Clean Racing team, there's every reason to believe he'll be back stronger and faster.

Toby had a challenging weekend at Croft, with a standout performance in a tricky wet race but overall frustration due to qualifying setbacks. However, the experience has fueled his determination as he gears up for Donington Park.
